How exposure to Circular Economy concepts can change a Nation

Kenya is actively working towards transitioning to a circular economy. A radical transformation in the way we use natural resources is central to meeting the needs of future generations. The take-make-waste concept has led to the dwindling of virgin material as well as the degradation of finite natural resources and capital. Yet, with a people that are hungry to work and build new solutions, Kenya is the perfect place to plant seeds of new perspectives on waste management, economic development, and planetary health and wellness.

With our Circular Economy workshops, we aim to expose, inspire, and empower local beneficiaries on the many ways in which they can propel solutions and actively participate in building the infrastructure to achieve local, national, and global sustainability.

As much as a circular economy is a new concept in Kenya, the government, through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) and of Trade and Industrialization as well as multilateral agencies, has made it possible by developing corresponding legal and policy frameworks that ensure a smooth transition from a linear economy. Through meaningful partnerships between Paragon, local government agencies and the private sector, Kenya is on a path to strategically integrating circularity in key industries that will result in the development of new businesses that are redesigning the way we recycle, manage waste, and restore planetary health in this part of the world.
